What's everyone listening to???  Here's some of my favorites so far (reviews coming soon, promise  Wink):

Blut Aus Nord - Memoria Vetusta II: Dialogue with the Stars
Lamb of God - Wrath
Cannibal Corpse - Evisceration Plague

Most overrated release thus far:

God Forbid - Earthsblood

So disappointed...

I'd go with

Obscura - Cosmogenesis
Lamb of God - Wrath
HateSphere - To the Nines
Cannibal Corpse - Evisceration Plague

Also agree on the God Forbid...awful!

I have to add Torture Killer - Sewers and Samael - Above...  Excellent albums...  Apparently I have to check out Obscura, I've heard it mentioned a few times now...

These albums are on my agenda:

Samael - Above
My Dying Bride - For Lies I Sire
Obscura - Cosmogenesis
The Gathering - The West Pole
Leaves' Eyes - Njord
Mastodon - Crack the Skye
Les Claypool - Of Fungi and Foe
Pestilence (reunited) - Resurrection Macabre

I see Dark Tranquillity, Nevermore, and Arch Enemy are releasing compilation albums called "Manifesto of (band name)" - probably the label's idea.

Yeah, from what I've heard so far, Obscura really stands out as far as technical death metal goes. The song I listened to had really prominent bass playing, which is always a plus. Guest musicians include Ron Jarzombek and Tymon from Cynic / Exivious.

Listening to some new stuff:
Submission - Code of Conspiracy = Great!  Melodeath mixed with SYL
Arise - The Reckoning = Also great, thought these guys had fell off the map
Degradead - Out of Body Experience = Solid newer melodeath, Soilwork crossed with Dimension Zero
Old Man's Child - Slaves of the World = Not impressed so far
Eluveitie - Evocation I = Surprisingly good for an acoustic metal album, though I didn't expect to be disappointed here

Here's what I'm digging:

Torture Killer - Sewers (review posted)
Blut Aus Nord - Memoria Vetusta II: Dialogue With The Stars (review posted)
Cannibal Corpse - Evisceration Plague (review posted)
Lamb of God - Wrath (review posted)
Isis - Wavering Radiant
Samael - Above
Isole - Silent Ruins
Hatesphere - To the Nines
Cobalt - Gin
Absu - Absu
Razor of Occam - Homage to Martyrs
Suidakra - Crogacht

Only listened to a little bit of:

Obscura - Cosmogenesis
Mastadon - Crack the Skye
My Dying Bride - For Lies I Sire
Thyrfing - Hels Vite
Wolves in the Throne Room - Black Cascade
Amoral - Show Your Colors
Black Messiah - First War of the World

Still haven't heard yet, can't wait to get:

Submission - Code of Conspiracy
Old Man's Child - Slaves of the World
Leaves Eyes - Njord
1349 - Revelations of the Black Flame
Emperor - Live Inferno
Lacuna Coil - Shallow Life
God Dethroned - Passiondale
Chimaira - The Infection (don't think it's gonna be anything special though)
Susperia - Attitude
Neaera - Omnicide - Creation Unleashed
Amorphis - Skyforger

Most overrated album right now:

Eluveitie - Evocation I - The Arcane Dominion (and that sucks, maybe I just have to give it a few more spins, but I'm hating it right now)

The new MDB is a pleasant surprise - they finally have a full-time violin player again!

I'm really enjoying The Gathering's new one, too - very guitar-driven, and somehow they found a perfect female vocalist to replace Anneke, which I didn't think was possible.

Also forgot to mention Buckethead - Slaughterhouse On the Prairie as a great 2009 release of pure recreational guitar-playing.  There's some really well-crafted songs on here... so much more than just the shredding and weird guitar effects he's generally known for.

Kalisia - Cybion (70 minute epic is easily the best metal album of the year so far)
Gwynbleidd - Nostalgia (A must listen for fan's of older Opeth and Agalloch)
Napalm Death - Time Waits for No Slave (Grindcore master's at there finest)

Other Albums I'm really enjoying

Kreator - Hordes of Chaos
Korpiklaani - Karkelo
Woe of Tyrants - Kingdom of Might
Cannibal Corpse - Evisceration Plague
Gorod - Process of A New Decline
