Hmmm, haven't been to a show since last year's Katatonia/Scar Symmetry/Insomnium/Swallow the Sun, guess nothing's really caught my eye.

Welcome Ryan, looks like you've got some solid musical tastes! Smiley

In Flames - Sense of Purpose leaked.

You guys lack of Mastodon love is apalling, haha.  You might want to pop in Heart's Alive, Mother Puncher, or Sleeping Giant one more time Smiley

Seems like alot of love for melodic death metal.  Melodeath hasn't produced a interesting new band in over a decade.  That's why everyones favorite melodeath bands are from the early 90's.

Going back to bed.  New In Flames is very solid, but it's a very experimental record.  I'd say one of the tracks even sounds like Radiohead.

Yeah, hey Ryan, welcome...  I definitely have a few gripes about the list however, it's definitely solid top to bottom...  As I told you the other night, I'm definitely all over the place when it comes to metal...  Check out my Top 25 of 2007 to see that...  I'm just surprised about the Darkest Hour albums being ranked so high...  I thought Undoing Ruin was one of the most overrated discs of the decade...  And also Horse the Band???  Really???  Ugh, you can definitely have them...  Hahaha...  I was also surprised at how high you have the newest Devildriver album too, thought "Fury" was the best album they've made...  But I'm sure just like the other night we can debate this band or that band forever...

Haven't gotten a chance to get the new In Flames yet but I definitely am getting it very soon...

Last show I saw was Zimmer's Hole on March 10, 2008 (my b-day), but the Whiteboard Project and Savannah kicked the Hole's ass.

I am going to Dream Theater and Opeth's show on May 6, 2008--it's part of the Progressive Nation Tour.  So looking forward to this...

In Flames is doing something crazy and bothering to come to my city... May 8th. It'll mark my 6th time seeing them live and I cannot wait to hear the new material live. I know it's going to really get the place moving.

Just got back from Chicago Powerfest...  Unfortunately, I wasn't able to stay tonight for Testament because the Dimmu Borgir / Behemoth show is in my hometown (Cincinnati) tonight...  However, Pagan Fest on Thursday was incredible...  Turisas completely stole the show, they were absolutely amazing...  Tyr played a great set as well, and Eluveitie (who I hadn't heard before the show) was crazy...  There is so much going on with them its insane...  Enseferium (headliner) played a good set too but I think I was pretty much drunk as hell by then...

Also last night I saw the return of Matt Barlow to Iced Earth...  Great show...  I'd never seen them before and even though I'm not the biggest power metal fan, Iced Earth definitely won me over...  Shitty supporting bands (A Life Once Lost, Epicurean, Ion Vein, and Arise To Ruin) though but it didn't matter, an hour and 45 minutes of Iced Earth is fine with me...  Especially considering that was Barlow's first show back with the band...  Great night...

And as I said, tonight's Dimmu Borgir / Behemoth / Keep of Kallessin...  Time to continue a crazy ass metal weekend...  Cheer...

You got to see Turisas and Eluveitie live?  Damn, that'd be awesome.

I highly recommend the new Eluveitie album that just came out this year.

Damn, thats one hell of a weekend!!!  Would have loved to have seen Iced Earth!  I missed Paganfest since the only show near me was during the New England Metalfest and those 4 bands were the only one's I was interested in and was not about to sell out $50 for it.

Yeah, Turisas and Eluveitie were absolutely crazy but fun as hell...  Personally, I would've had Turisas headline but oh well, still a great show...  I was really happy I got to see the return of Matt Barlow to Iced Earth too on Friday...  Finally got to see the Keep of Kalessin/Behemoth/Dimmu Borgir show Saturday as well which rivalled Pagan Fest as top to bottom the best show of the weekend in my opinion...  Iced Earth played with complete shit bands though but "Burning Times" was my favorite track they played along with "Travel in Stygian"...  Helluva weekend, I'm still in need of some desperate R&R...

I went to Dream Theater and Opeth's Progressive Nation Tour concert just this Tuesday!  The opening bands were 3 and Between the Buried and Me.  Every band was awesome--this is by far the best show that I have been to.  I have not been to that many shows, but after this one, I'm going to certainly make more of an effort.  "Master's Apprentices" was an excellent choice for the initial Opeth song.  I was impressed with the opening acts and will continue looking for their music.  Dream Theater was a total blast--very technical yet grand at the same time.  I would totally do this AGAIN!  It was the most fun I've had in a long time.  The fans were cool and crazy too--I enjoyed talking to them.  Who else is going to the Progressive Nation Tour?  I was secretly hoping Opeth would play "Demon of the Fall"...

That Progressive Nation tour never came anywhere near me! Ah well.

Amon Amarth should be good live. If I remember right, their vocalist is like 7 feet tall (or 2.5 metres, for you non-Americans). So you should be able to see him even if you can't get very close. Smiley
