Hey, that's pretty slick!  Your own domain and everything!  I'll drop you some comments there when I have some more time.  Although I must warn you, coming to the USA this year would be like jumping on the Titanic just as its leaving the harbor.  Kidding.  But not really.

I probably should've invested in a proper blog at some point, but I've just been using myspace for the same purpose:

www.myspace.com/forcetheedges

I also made a page recently for my one-man music project:

www.myspace.com/shambhalamusic

Yep, I stay pretty busy...

Haha, nice stuff Blasphemer! I'm being discouraged from taking my US trip at every turn...the other day Top Gear drove across Alabama and nearly got shot at for painting "Hilary for President" on the side of their cars. (Serves them right...but still, its damn scary!)

Very thoughtful and funny shit from both of you.  I blog on my musician site, www.madmetalmage.com .  Blasphemer, is that loops or actual recordings of percussion?  I will NOT lie--I am not a drummer, so I used software instruments for the drums on mine.  I also use MySpace and Facebook--the links are in the Bio section!

Hey, you're a girl!  That's pretty cool.  To answer your question... both.  I recorded actual percussion instruments, one at a time, then made shorter loops out of what I recorded.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of your material, so thanks for the heads up! Hopefully others will discover it through this forum as well.  Did you use Garageband to record/mix your songs?  I've been using SoundSampler, a shareware mac program, but I'm thinking of switching to Garageband now that I have OSX.

LOL--thanks--I often feel the need to hide that I'm female in a metal forum!

Wow--recording individual percussion instruments must take a long time to do.  How did you mic them?

Thanks--I have been working so slowly with my music.  I have been wanting to get my album done for years--one day!  I have used Garageband and Logic in most of the songs, but the older ones have used Adobe Audition (formerly known as CoolEdit Pro) and Cakewalk SONAR.  I have never used SoundSampler, but I have Audacity installed.  Is this what you mean: http://www.sndsampler.com/ ?

Were you using OS 9 before or another OS?  Garageband's great--easy to use!

Yep, that's the one!  The only music-editing software I know of that will actually run on OS9!  I recorded a 3-song demo in 2005 with just a usb mic and a G3 tower.  Of course, the sound was all in mono.  You can do panning and make stereo sounds in that program, but it didn't work so well on that particular computer.  Luckily, by the time I figured out the whole stereo pairing thing, I had gotten a laptop with OSX.

Here's some pics from my old apartment:
<img src="http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t123/forcetheedges/recording/cpu.jpg">
<img src="http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t123/forcetheedges/recording/2guitars.jpg">
<img src="http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t123/forcetheedges/recording/drumset.jpg">

Yes, the base of the "drumset" is made from a papasan chair!  It's a bit misleading though, because I didn't actually play all the pieces together like that while recording.

The only problem with SoundSampler is that you can't convert your files to mp3s, and the files are really huge, somewhere around 10 MB for each minute. And you lose a lot of clarity when you downsample to a lower rate.  So I'm hoping that I could use Garageband to get the file size down and still maintain a good quality bitrate.

...I know how you feel, I've been working on 4 songs for about 2 years, but I'm hoping to be done within the next couple months!

Old versions of Logic used to be made for Mac OS 9--hell, they were made for Windows for a while too, at least until Apple bought Logic.

That must have been a lot of work recording with just one USB mic, and all mono too!  I have an old song demo on my site's archive section--it was made on a PC that crashed a lot--lucky it did not crash my song, at least not that time.  I am thankful for the days of better gear.

What a unique looking kit made from a chair!

Snd Sampler's website says that mp3s may be made in the software, but I guess it only let you do a really low bitrate.

Oh, maybe the latest version is mp3 compatible then!  I didn't even realize they were still making new versions of it - I'm still using 4.7 from 2004.

I would recommend that anyone with a mac check it out at <u><a href="http://www.sndsampler.com">www.sndsampler.com</a></u> and give it a try.  It's 40 dollars to register, at least that's how much it was back when I bought it.

Also, anyone with a computer should check out <u><a href="http://www.versiontracker.com">www.versiontracker.com</a></u> for a variety of freeware and shareware.  They have all kinds of recording and drum programs, so just do a search for "recording" or "drum" and you're bound to find something.

The only blog I have currently would be my Myspace page...  I really need to start posting more blogs actually but due to the fact that my computer still isn't fixed (because I'm basically lazy) I can't get on Myspace very much...  Regardless there are a few about metal and a few that are outright hilarious...  Check them out if you like @ myspace.com/wjr12983
