Here's the place where we will introduce ourselves as musicians.

Please mention the following:

Instrument  (guitar, bass etc)
Equipment (amplifiers, pedals, v-amps etc)
How long have you been playing the instrument
How did you learned to play this instrument

Let's make a start...

I am Andrew and i am 23

I play the electric bass guitar. I have 2 at the moment. An Ibanez SR-300 which was the first bass i bought and i recently purchased a 5-string fretless one as i love the sound of fretless bass guitar.

I have a small Ibanez Amplifier (25W). I bought it at the same time with the Ibanez bass guitar but i want to buy a trace elliot (120W) one sometime in the near future. I also have Behringer's Bass V-Amp

I was 16 when i bought it so...7 years now. But i am not good  Sad

I learned by myself. You know, Smoke On The Water in the stereo at first, then Paranoid, then Run To The Hills and stuf like that. But i think practice on fast songs wasn't necessary as the only things i play right now is some doom/death metal material with 40-50 bpm! Oh, not to forget to mention that i don't use a pick but my fingers  Cool

I ain't   Steve Vai  Shocked but I do play the guitar  Wink

I've been playing on and off for a couple years or so in the past 25 years Cheesy..

I have an Ibanez Masa acoustic electric guitar but in the past  I had two Normans ( Canadian brand) acoustic 6& 12 strings. I used to play alto flutes ( wood and the metal type ) and a bit of piano too.

I've learned partly by myself, with friends and I'm presently taking lessons.

Oh and by the way...do you want to see something scary ? I'm 48 years old  Shocked Cheesy

I echo Shadows sentiments about not being Steve Vai.  But I also play the guitar.

The name is Josh.  Im 19

I have a Fender Strat that I got when I was like 8.  I also have an Epiphone Xplorer.

Although I got my Strat when I was like 8, I have only been playing for like 4 years.

And I learned my instrument by myself as well.  Starting with the basics that everyone has to know.  Ive started to get away from playing all metal lately and I have begun to play a little blues.

Name's Teemu and my main instrument is the guitar. I'm not Steve Vai, nor do I wish to be him- I prefer the lead styles of Glenn Tipton, Adrian Smith and Roy Z. I've been playing for 3-4 years now. I'm pretty much selftaught, if you don't count the few jazz guitar books and the Troy Stetina series I've read.

My favorite toy is my Epiphone Gothic series Flying V (played through a Marshall MG100dfx 100w combo), but I also have an Egmont Lucky 7 acoustic guitar and an anonymous classic guitar, both in active use. Also, being a huge Jethro Tull/Ian Anderson fan, I've aquired an Irish tin whistle and a classical Boehm flute, which I can't really play at all because I've simply haven't had enough time to rehearse. However, in the near future I plan to utilize these instruments in my band project because, as everyone knows, the flute _IS_ an heavy metal instrument!

Instrument: Guitar is my main instrument, but I also play Drums(9 years on and off) and Bass Guitar(mostly noodling, but I can hold my own)

Equipment: I'm endorsed by Madison Amps(www.madisonspeakers.com) and have a Madison Divinity 100w head with two Madison Symphony 300w cabs. I also have a Line 6 Flextone II head with a Marshall Mode Four 280w straight cab as my backup rig...for guitars my main guitar is an Ibanez RG 70string with EMG 81-7 and 707 pickups... I have a few other guitars I just noodle on, i have a classical 6-string, as well as a 1987 custom shop Hamer Explorer(cream colored)

How long have you been playing the instrument: 7 years

How did you learned to play this instrument: self-taught. My dad taught me a few chords n stuff when I got my first guitar(a peavey strat, still have it) and from there I just mainly learned by ear. I would listen to Metallica and ZZ Top and just pick up on the riffs.

« Reply #9 on: February 09, 2008, 02:32:27 am »

Good evening,

I am Mad Metal Mage.  I am a musician, computer geek, student, and employee.  While providing technical support as a career, I also work toward the completion of my jazz music degree (ETC July 2009).  I am also trying to record an album, which I never seem to have enough time to do.  I have an unending appetite for metal, especially the melodic death prog variety.  I have been visiting this website for years but have not joined until now.  Most of the bands I've heard of on the band list are killer.  I really like old RPG games from the 80s and 90s.  More time on my hands means more time I play the classic games.

  • Line 6 Bass PODxt
  • Samson G-Track USB Condenser Mic
  • Everyone's gotta have a Shure SM58
  • Lots of hard drives

  • Samick Artist Series 5-string bass

Pleased to meet you all, and thanks.
